Every mother-daughter pair has their own story, power, beauty, and wounds. Through years of exploring my story with my mother, I have come to see myself as my mother’s protector. I am an only child and as a little girl I always stayed close by her side. Especially after my parents’ divorce, I believe I took on the role of protector to support her through her journey. Along with this role, came the development of my empathy and ability to create a safe space for others, as well as complex wounds. In my adulthood and over the last few years along my own healing journey, I have explored the multi-layered facets of my relationship with my mother, as well as studied in books and researched the complexity of the mother-daughter relationship throughout the lifespan.
Particularly in the last few years, I have witnessed my mother go through a healing journey herself, which no doubt has had deep pain-- the process of waking up, coming home to herself, and expressing all the parts of herself that were deeply suppressed as a young girl, woman, and young mother. I have witnessed her grieve the ways in which she was not able to be fully expressed for most of her life, express her true emotions, get the support she needed, tune into her true authentic gifts, and manifest her wildest. This has awakened a fire within me, which is the root of my passion for helping girls, women, and mothers reclaim themselves. Furthermore, my own journey in healing my relationship with my mother, and examining her relationship with her own mother, has fueled me to incorporate the power and depth of the mother-daughter relationship into my work.
At this time, I have chosen to bring my purpose and inner magic to life by working therapeutically with women/adult daughters, mothers of girls, and mother-daughter pairs.
I graduated from the California School of Professional Psychology with my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). During my doctoral training, the following experiences have contributed to my current expertise: writing my dissertation on the development and well-being of girls and the parent-daughter relationship as well as accruing thousands of hours conducting therapy with children and adults. I have worked in therapeutic private practice, intensive outpatient programs, hospital settings, and primary care doctor’s offices. I also am a Certified Life Coach for Girls (certified by Teen Wisdom) and have a bachelor’s degree in Theater/Dance and Education, both of which contribute daily to the therapeutic work I do with women and mother/daughter pairs. Most recently, I have trained through Rosjke Hasseldine’s pivotal work on the mother-daughter relationship through her course Healing the Mother-Daughter Connection which delves into the Mother-Daughter Attachment Model.
